To appreciate the awesomeness of the Portable Film Festival you need to thinks about two seemingly unrelated things at once. Firstly, you know how ‘normal’ film festivals that screen at cinemas are awesome, but they can be really expensive and most of the films screen only once so if you miss out that’s it? Yep.

Okay, we’re not even going to bother trying to be clever or witty in describing this performance because it’s shocking enough as it is. All you need to know is that this live art show and subsequent exhibition, involves an artist painting onto a canvas using her own blood. Yes, really.
Why not just use a realistic shade of red oil paint, or tomato sauce like they do in low-budget horror films, you ask? Well, if your objective is to make people stop and really think about the ravages of war, tomato sauce just doesn’t rock the canvas.
